PACIANO – Christmas was less than a month away. As days grew shorter, colourful lights began to brighten the streets. Christmas markets offered a chance to wrap up warm, wander among the stalls and rediscover childhood memories.
In Umbria and neighbouring Tuscany, towns prepared markets to celebrate the season. Our estate served as a base for exploring them; the promotion mentioned in the original 2018 article has expired.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN CORTONA
On clear days Cortona is visible from the estate. Beginning on 1 December that year, Piazza Signorelli hosted local products, festive treats, lights, events and shows, along with Santa’s house for children.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS IN UMBRIA
Perugia: From 7 December that year, several markets filled the historic centre. The atmospheric market inside Rocca Paolina, a 16th-century fortress, brought together Italian artisans, creative work and traditional crafts within its ancient streets.
Gubbio: The town’s illuminated Christmas tree on Mount Ingino, the life-size nativity scene in the San Martino district and activities around Piazza Grande made it another festive stop.
